At 8 o' clock on the morning of November 3, the opening ceremony of the 16th Sports Games of Jiangsu University was held in Dongshan Sports Ground. Secretary of Party Committee of Jiangsu University, Yuan Shouqi, President Yan Xiaohong and other school leaders and more than 5,000 teachers and students from various colleges and sub-unions attended the opening ceremony. Vice President Mei Qiang presided over the opening ceremony.

On the opening ceremony, President Yan Xiaohong made an opening speech, summarizing the outstanding achievements of school sports in the past year. He called on the teachers and students of the school to actively participate in physical exercise. He said that the school would continue to increase investment in sports venues, sports facilities and equipment and create superior conditions for the sports activities of teachers and students so as to jointly create a “healthy Jiangda”. Then, the school leaders awarded trophies and medals to the top eight colleges, sub-unions and advanced groups and individuals who won in the 15th Sports Games. Comrade Yuan Shouqi, Secretary of School Party Committee and President of Jiangsu University, announced the opening of the 16th Sports Games of Jiangsu University. At the opening ceremony, the college students’ group aerobics and Taijiquan of faculty and staff were performed with careful arrangement. The large group gymnastics changed the formation with the sound of music, and the tidy and graceful movements of Taijiquan won the warm applause of the audience.

After the opening ceremony, the first project of the Games-track and field competition was held. A total of more than 3,000 teachers and students from 25 colleges and over 20 sub-unions participated in the track and field events and fun competitions. After two days of fierce competition, Overseas Education Colleges, School of Management and School of Automobile and Traffic Engineering were awarded the top three in the group and School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Finance and Economics, School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, School of Pharmacy, School of Marxism, School of Management, School of Material Science and Engineering, Jingjiang College won Sportsmanship Award of the track and field competition.

The units that won the first to eighth divisions of the 15th Sports Games were: Logistics Service Group, Institutional Party Group, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Food and Biological Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science and Communication Engineering and Affiliated school. The student groups  that received the first to eighth place of the 15th Sports Games were: Overseas Education College, Jingjiang College, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Management, School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering, School of Finance and Economics, School of Energy and Power Engineering, and School of Material Science and Engineering.
