“The 2018 Intoxicating Campus” ---Campus Marathon of Jiangsu University was grandly held in the library square at 8.30 a.m. on May 5th, in which 1800 faculty, students and alumni members participated.  Party Committee Secretary of Jiangsu University, Yuan Shouqi, President Yan Xiaohong, Vice President Chen Long, Mei Qiang, Zhang Jijian, Liao Zimei and Li Hongbo, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Gao Qingguo, Vice President Quan Li, Secretary of the Organizing Department of Party Standing Committee, Li Zhanjun, Secretary of the Propaganda Department of Party Standing Committee, Jin Lifu, together with alumni members from Su Alumni Association, Wuxi Alumni Association, Zhenjiang Alumni Association and other places attended the opening ceremony, which was hosted by Vice President, Mei Qiang.

At the opening ceremony, President Yan Xiaohong delivered a speech, on behalf of the school and the competition organizing committee, expressing his sincere wishes to all the runners who actively participated in the competition, and his heartfelt gratitude to the alumni members who had been caring for and supporting the sports of our school, to all hard-working staff of the organizing committee, to 300 volunteers, to cheerleaders from various colleges and to the majority of the cast members. He briefly introduced the brilliant records our school achieved in recent years in the training and introduction of sports talents, in the construction of high-level sports teams, in the physical education, in group activities of teachers and students, in the construction of sports club and in comprehensive sports games. This campus marathon is a new requirement for the school to thoroughly implement “a Healthy China Strategy” of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party and another important measure to promote the in-depth development of sunshine sports activities, to promote the formation of good exercise habits and healthy lifestyles of teachers and students and to further create a campus culture atmosphere in sports. Finally, he stated that the marathon was not only a sport, but also a kind of spirit and we were supposed to work together to make the body healthier, to make the national fitness become a lifestyle, to make Jiangsu University more civilized, and to make the campus marathon a brand event of our school.

After the speech of alumni representative, Tan Xiangqun, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Wuxi Vocational and Technical College, Professor Yuan Shouqi, Party Committee Secretary of Jiangsu school, announced the beginning of “the 2018 Intoxicating Campus-- Campus Marathon of Jiangsu University”. After a crisp shot the referee sent, all the athletes ran forward like a tide.

The theme of this Campus Marathon was “Running around the intoxicating campus and creating a Healthy Body”. Three projects were included: 16 kilometers racing, 8 kilometers racing and 3 kilometers striding. Along the competition route were shaded trees, fragrant flowers and rivers and hills next to each other. The azaleas, pomegranate blossoms, yellow calami and water lilies were blooming with sweet odors. Meanwhile, the Plum Garden, the Sakura Garden, Gargen Yuanding and Garden Xuezi were as if greeting to the runners.

Participants could apply online or offline. Bonuses for 8 km and 16 km racing were awarded according to the results of the competition. The top 3 prizes were awarded according to the timing of the players’ finished guns while 4-10 prizes were be awarded according to the net timing.

This Campus Marathon was hosted by the Sports Committee of Jiangsu University, catered by Party Office, School Office, Propaganda Department, Labor Union, Department of Students’ Affairs, Youth League Committee, Academic Affairs Office, Finance Department, Security Department, Logistics Department, Office for Development and External Cooperation, Graduate Students’ Affairs Department of the Party Committee, Overseas College, Affiliated Hospital and Ministry of Sports, and cooperated by Jiangsu Iron Man Sports Cultural Development Co., Ltd.
